Peer Review of Teaching

91ԭƬ promotes teaching expertise development among academic staff at all levels through dedicated support and professional learning initiatives. The Peer Review of Teaching (PRoT) Program by the Office of the PVC Learning and Teaching aims to provide academic staff, the opportunity to develop their teaching practices in a supportive and trusted environment.

The PRoT Program at WSU values collaborative, reciprocal, and developmental peer review, aiming to enhance teaching practices at both the subject and programmatic levels while fostering trusted professional reflective conversations that bring joy and confidence into teaching to promote educator wellbeing.

In addition to professional learning and reflection on teaching practice, peer reviews provide evidence of teaching quality and effectiveness for teaching portfolios, performance review, promotion, awards and other recognition applications.

The PRoT Program encourages academics to engage in the peer review process by requesting a colleague to review their practice or get in touch with the Learning and Teaching Team to support them with finding a reviewer. A useful first step for staff is to attend peer review information sessions, which run during the Autumn and Spring semesters.
